Description
This is an exciting time to join The Pensions Regulator (TPR). Our new corporate strategy outlines a bold and challenging vision of how pensions regulation should evolve to keep pace with a change in the scale and nature of the industry. We are at the start of that journey. As we continue to embed a more prudential style of regulation defined by greater engagement with our regulated community and a deeper understanding of how their work effects the economy as a whole, our Market Oversight team plays a critical role in leading the strategic relationships with pension schemes and funds and responding when things are not working as they should. We are seeking to develop a regulatory environment that encourages and supports innovation in savers’ interests – being flexible in our approach, and co-designing regulation with industry with a focus on savers’ needs.
As our Director of Defined Contribution and Master Trust Supervision, you will be responsible for leading engagement and oversight for the DC and Master Trust schemes we regulate, identifying key issues within the schemes themselves as well as broader factors that impact on savers and the wider economy. With assets of over £200bn and growing held within these schemes, this is a critical part of our work in safeguarding the interest of savers and in the wider economy. You will lead an expert directorate of forty staff and, as a member of TPR’s senior leadership team, work closely with colleagues to continue delivering the transformation of TPR.
We welcome applications from candidates with senior leadership experience, alongside knowledge of and interaction with Master Trusts, with a deep understanding of how schemes work, the regulatory environment in which they operate and the broader market trends that exist in the sector. You will have proven experience of engaging with stakeholders at the highest levels and be a capable leader of expert teams. With strong strategic capabilities, you will engage effectively at all levels of the organisation, ensuring that collaboration and influence are at the heart of the way you work. We need inspirational leaders who can demonstrate experience of taking people with them on a journey of transformational change. Culture is as important as capability, and you will demonstrate a values set in line with those we have developed at TPR.
Everyone at TPR plays an important role in helping to keep more than £2trn of savings safe. We’re committed to bringing people into TPR who are ready to make a difference and put UK savers at the heart of what we do.
