Description

This is an exciting time to join The Pensions Regulator (TPR). Our new corporate strategy outlines a bold and challenging vision of how pensions regulation should evolve to keep pace with a change in the scale and nature of the industry. We are at the start of that journey. As we continue to embed a more prudential style of regulation defined by greater engagement with our regulated community and a deeper understanding of how their work effects the economy as a whole, our Market Oversight team plays a critical role in leading the strategic relationships with pension schemes and funds and responding when things are not working as they should. We are seeking to develop a regulatory environment that encourages and supports innovation in savers’ interests – being flexible in our approach, and co-designing regulation with industry with a focus on savers’ needs.

As our Director of Marketing and Engagement, you will lead the strategic direction and accountability for The Pensions Regulator’s (TPR) marketing, content, and stakeholder engagement functions. This new role ensures that TPR’s communications are insight-driven, audience-focused, and aligned with regulatory priorities — helping to influence behaviours, build trust, and improve outcomes for savers. You will lead the team that is responsible for ensuring our external communications and engagement connects with and influences the pensions schemes and administrators we regulate. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across TPR to develop a cohesive approach to marketing and engagement to ensure that engagement, campaigns, and content are strategically aligned with policy messages, supervisory activities, and amplify behaviour change messages through targeted mass communications. The role is central to delivering the organisation’s mission to protect, enhance, and innovate in savers’ interests.

A collaborative and inclusive leader, you will bring a track record of leading marketing, communications, or engagement as a senior leader within a regulatory, public sector, or other comparably complex stakeholder environment. You will have experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams and developing culture and capabilities in a way that builds an engaged and high-performing function. This is a senior leadership role within TPR and, consequently, you will also be able to demonstrate the positive impact of your strategic capabilities in influencing organisational delivery and outcomes. Culture is as important as capability, and you will demonstrate a values set in line with those we have developed at TPR.

Everyone at TPR plays an important role in helping to keep more than £1.4trn of savings safe. We are committed to bringing people into TPR who are ready to make a difference and put UK savers at the heart of what we do.
